Experience
ATO objections
The ATO had ordered my client to pay $750,000 in extra tax, GST and penalties. My client agreed to being liable for some but not all of that amount. On her behalf, I prepared and lodged objections and made several submissions. Ultimately, my client only paid $80,000. In another unrelated case, I saved a client a significant amount of payroll tax after successfully negotiating with the State Revenue Office to separate my client’s two businesses for payroll tax purposes.
Tax-effective strategies
I recently devised a tax plan that allowed my client, who was a partner in a business, to leave that business and sell his interest without paying any tax. For another client, a foreign corporation, I devised a strategy that allowed a manager and owner of a subsidiary to exit the business in a most tax effective way.
